OP can’t understand why her wedding arrangement would be so upsetting for her sister-in-law. Everything OP and her fiancee want for their wedding has nothing to do with being spiteful or upstaging her sister-in-law. But her sister-in-law thinks otherwise.
Here’s How the Story Goes

OP is a 29-year-old from a middle-class family with an older brother, Adrian. Adrian is a self-taught software engineer who makes good money and is wrapped around the finger of his wife, Heather. Heather is not a bad person, but OP describes her as being a bit spoiled and loves to brag about the expensive things her husband buys her. She had an extravagant wedding, which she still talks about today.
Wedding Preparations

Fast forward to now, OP has been engaged for four years to her wealthy fiancé, who grew up with less than he now has. As such, he spends his money on things that he and his family could only dream of before. One of those things is their wedding, which is going to be luxurious and extravagant.
OP enthusiastically tells her mother and Heather about her wedding preparations while the family is gathered. Heather, however, suddenly turns very pale and then crimson in the face. For the remainder of the evening, she kept silent.
The Calls

But that wasn’t the end. The next day, Adrian called to make a strange request. He tells her that Heather was quite upset because she thought her wedding was being upstaged. Since OP had never before shown interest in having a “fancy” wedding, she claimed OP was trying to “upstage” her. He politely suggested that they dial it back a bit so that their wedding budget does not exceed what he and his wife spent on their wedding. OP laughed in disbelief. She couldn’t believe what her brother was spewing. Of course, she declined the request, and her brother abruptly ended the call.
The Blow Up

OP receives another call, this time from Heather, who accuses her of being jealous of her. She also accused OP of being with her fiance for his money. This made OP snap and tell her off. Precisely, OP tells her, “If you’re that obsessed with money, maybe you should have married someone else instead of my brother. If anyone’s jealous of someone, it’s you!”
As a result, Adrian is angry and calls OP an AH for insinuating that Heather shouldn’t have married him. OP’s parents also think she was too harsh on Heather and are asking her to lower her wedding budget to appease her.
Op Isn’t the AH

Despite the family drama, OP stands her ground and refuses to lower her wedding budget. She realizes that bad behavior should not be appeased. It’s a shame that Heather has made it a competition, but OP is determined to have the wedding of her dreams and not let anyone bring her down.
Should it be contested that OP refuses to let anyone else’s insecurities destroy their wonderful day, being true to herself and her fiancé? The drama may have caused tension in the family, but OP knows that her wedding is not a competition and that she deserves the fairytale wedding she’s always dreamed of.
